Noémie Raymond
Acclaimed Canadian cellist Noémie Raymond is an artist destined to “leave her mark on posterity with her immense sensitivity and immeasurable talent” (Journal des Citoyens). Praised for her sensitive, refined playing, she has performed internationally as a chamber musician and soloist with renowned orchestras across the globe.
Her diverse career has taken her from the prestigious halls of London’s Royal Albert Hall to the Festival International de Musica de Camara in Lima, as well as concerts in the USA, Japan, Cambodia, Chile and many others. Noémie has shared the stage with renowned virtuosos such as Midori and Pinchas Zukerman, creating unforgettable musical moments on four continents. The 2024-2025 season will see her debut at Zankel Hall (Carnegie Hall) in New York and the Berlin Philharmonie as part of an international tour of cello/piano recitals.
Recognized as one of CBC’s Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30, Noémie is not only an exceptional performer, but also an accomplished educator. She serves as a chamber music mentor for the Heifetz International Music Institute’s junior program and shares her knowledge at the Festival del Lago in Mexico. Her contribution to “erecting the edifice of Quebec musical culture” (Carole Trempe) attests to her commitment to musical education.
As a soloist, Noémie has appeared with prestigious orchestras such as the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Francophonie and the Carlos Costas Chamber Orchestra. She has also forged her reputation by being a prizewinner in national and international competitions, such as the Tremplin International, the Edwin H. and Leigh W. Schadt String International Competition, the Prix d’Europe and the WAMSO Young Artist Competition.
Her magnificent Matteo Goffriller “Ex-Curtis” cello (1700), generously provided by Canimex Inc. of Drummondville, Quebec, resonates across the world, supporting her desire to push back the boundaries of musical expression.
