Adam Zinatelli
Praised as “exemplary” and “a superior trumpet player” (Calgary Herald), Adam Zinatelli is accomplished as an orchestral player, soloist, and chamber musician. He has served as Principal Trumpet of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 2009, and has been guest principal trumpet with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Les Violons du Roy. Adam is a founding member of the Canadian National Brass Project and of the Reveille Trumpet Collective, a group dedicated to commissioning and performing new music for trumpet.
Mr. Zinatelli has been featured frequently as soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, Calgary’s Kensington Sinfonia, the University of Calgary Wind Ensemble, and many other groups. He has appeared in recital and chamber music performances at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the Toronto Summer Music Festival, the Festival of the Sound, the Sound Symposium New Music Festival, the Instrumental Society of Calgary, the Banff Centre, and the University of Calgary.
Adam is a laureate of the 2008 Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, and received the 2008 Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award.
His debut recording ‘Fifteen Feet Closer to the Sky’ entirely comprises premiere recordings.
Mr. Zinatelli completed undergraduate studies at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto with Andrew McCandless, and pursued graduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Michael Sachs.
Away from music, Adam is a keen cook, an avid cyclist, and a science enthusiast.
