Orchestrated Neighbours
Propelled by the creativity of African Nova Scotian and Indigenous youth, Orchestrated Neighbours combines Urban contemporary music with the Classical genre.
The Orchestrated Neighbours project braids artistic and community goals through outreach, collaboration and partnerships to improve Music Nova Scotia’s representation of African Nova Scotian and Indigenous music communities.
These artists, aged 16-28, composed original music in team settings. The songwriting teams collaborated with professional arrangers Karlene M. Francis (Can’t Get Up, Two Ways), Andrew Jackson (Ghost, Together We Can) and the Bela String Quartet to and record four new songs.
