Inspired by the great annual novena dedicated to Saint Joseph, which is one of the most important pilgrimages of the year, this album draws its inspiration from this man who did things without fanfare, with heart and devotion. The songs dedicated to him are imbued with heartfelt harmonies. Some are better known: Ite Ad Joseph and Joseph Fili David while others deserve to be discovered, such as the masses dedicated to Saint Joseph by William J. Marsh and Edith Regelsberg. At the request of music director Andrew Gray, various places of worship around the world have sent in suggestions for works about Saint Joseph. The young singers therefore had to learn to pronounce several languages! While listening to the disc, one will observe that the works on the disc follow each other, as during the Catholic ritual: Prelude, entrance song, Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Benedictus, Agnus dei, and Alleluia. Ite ad Joseph (Go to Joseph) is the inscription engraved on the pedestal of the statue of Saint Joseph erected at the pedestrian entrance of Saint Joseph’s Oratory where the Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal are attracted. Saint Joseph can be seen as the saint of daily life, health and family. Saint Brother André Bessette considered him a friend. For him he founded the great place of pilgrimage that is Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal –Montreal.
