Space Time Continuo
Montreal’s baroque bass band, Space Time Continuo, held it’s first concert in 2019 at Salle Bourgie presented in the yearly concert series of La Nef. The ever-changing personnel brings bass instruments into the spotlight by highlighting different textures and functions of baroque continuo instruments. The musicians are members of the busy Early Music groups of Montreal (Arion, SMAM, Infusion Baroque, Ensemble Caprice, Pallade Musica, Les Idees Heureuses). Since its debut, Space Time Continuo, created and directed by cellist Amanda Keesmaat, has released the album CAROLO (Leaf-Music 2022), played several live and online events during the pandemic (Festival Lanaudière, Wheel Club Live, Conservatoire de Montréal), and recorded a second disk, Pachelbel Magnificat Fugues that was released (ANALEKTA 2022). Space Time Continuo, in a cello trio version, was chosen for a 8 concert tour of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal in the Spring of 2023. Space Time Continuo (Amanda Keesmaat) is grateful to have been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, FACTOR (Funds Assisiting Canadian Talent On Recordings) and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec and the Conseil des Arts de Montréal.
Director of Space Time Continuo, Amanda Keesmaat is principal cellist of Arion Baroque Orchestra, an original member of Skye Consort and is a vibrant presence on the Canadian Early Music scene.
