The Robbie Songs Project | A Legacy Choral Tribute to Robbie Smith

The Robbie Songs Project album is a collaborative effort with the Nova Scotia Choral Federation, breathing new life into the folk melodies of the late singer songwriter, Robbie Smith. In total, over thirty choral arrangements of Robbie’s songs have been commissioned. On this record, seventeen of Robbie’s songs have been reimagined by thirteen of Canada’s top choral composers and arrangers. This album showcases performances by Nova Scotian choirs, including the Cantabile Singers of Truro, Polaris (Choirs for Change), Dartmouth Choral Society, Nova Voce, The Aeolian Singers, Middleton Choral Society and Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus, uniting diverse voices to honour Robbie’s enduring musical legacy. These recordings were captured at two concerts in early 2023 and include an exciting massed choir piece consisting of 375 singers from all of the above choirs, plus members of EnChor East, Coastal Voices Men’s Choir and Halifax Newcomer Choir.
